About the club
I was frustrated with clothing that never lived up to what it claimed to be. The fit wasn't right, the quality didn't last, and it was hard to know where anything was actually made.
At the same time, I found myself returning to skateboarding after years away. Somewhere between growing up and becoming a parent, I'd drifted away from something I genuinely loved.
MelonClub began as an attempt to solve both problems: creating quality clothing I'd actually want to wear, while rediscovering a passion I'd lost along the way.
Today, MelonClub is for anyone finding their way back to skateboarding. Quality clothing, built to last, for life on and off the board.
Why did MelonClub Start?
Whatever board you ride, the places we enjoy are affected by human activity. I've seen it first-hand — rubbish left at skateparks, plastic washed up on beaches, and waste almost everywhere in between.
MelonClub isn't big enough to change the world on its own, but from the start I've tried to make better choices where possible.
That begins with working with suppliers who can demonstrate genuine environmental commitments, not just marketing claims. This includes supporting standards and initiatives such as:
• Better Cotton — helping improve cotton production worldwide.
• OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification — ensuring textiles are tested for harmful substances.
• Carbon Click — supporting carbon offsetting through verified reforestation projects.
Beyond our suppliers, we try to keep things simple.
MelonClub uses recyclable packaging, avoids unnecessary plastic wherever possible, and removes printed extras that often end up in the bin. Instead of filling parcels with additional labels and inserts, you'll receive the information you need digitally.
They're small steps, but they're steps worth taking. The longer clothing lasts, the less often it needs replacing — which is why quality remains at the centre of everything we make.
our impact
One thing I didn't expect when returning to skateboarding was how much I would overthink it.
I'd build every session up in my head before I even left the house. Even now, in my 30s, I still find it intimidating walking into a busy skatepark. I thought I'd have grown out of caring what people thought, but it turns out some things don't change as much as you'd expect.
That experience has shaped what I want MelonClub to become.
Beyond clothing, I want to support organisations and projects that help people discover skateboarding, return to skateboarding, or simply feel welcome giving it a go. Whether that's kids, teenagers, adults finding their way back, or people stepping on a board for the very first time.
In my teens, skateboarding stopped being "cool" and I walked away from it. Looking back, I wish I hadn't. If MelonClub can help even a few people stick with something they love, that's a future worth building towards.
As the brand grows, we hope to begin donating a portion of sales to charities and community projects that encourage participation in skateboarding and create more opportunities for people to get involved.
We're not there yet, but that's the direction we're heading. Keep an eye on future updates as the journey continues.
